Darning Basics Workshop (Online Zoom) Sunday November 15th

November 15 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$67 – $86

Master simple darning techniques that can save your most comfortable socks & jumpers.

If you’re keen to mend your knitted clothes, but don’t know where to start….start here!

Visible mending is a growing movement where mending becomes a feature. The techniques are simple and easy to learn. Darning is an age old practice being revived in our current times. It’s simple to learn and so much fun!

What Will I Learn? This is a hands on class. You will learn two basic types of darning – the plain weave darn and the swiss darn (duplicate stitch). We will also practice mending a pair of socks.

What Do I Need? There is the option to purchase a pre-prepared kit for this workshop. I have done all the sourcing and preparation for you. Kits are available for an additional $19 NZD + shipping and will be shipped to your address prior to the workshop. If you would prefer to source the items yourself, that is also fine. A supplies list will be sent to you prior to the workshop. All items are easy to find at a haberdashery store.

Where Can I Use These Techniques? The stitches taught in this course can be used for many different mending tasks – darning is not just for knitted garments, it can be used to repair denim and other non-stretch fabrics too.

How does it work? This is a live online workshop. In the week prior to the workshop, you will be sent a Zoom call link. You will be able to interact and ask questions during the workshop.

How Much Is the Workshop? The workshop is $67 NZD, This is approx. 44 USD, 62 AUD, 34 GBP, 38 EUR.

What Time Is The Workshop? Please note that this workshop is held 10am – 12pm NZDT (New Zealand Daylight Savings Time). To check the workshop time in your city, please click here.

Why is mending important?

We are hearing so much about the impact of over-consumption. Landfills are straining under the weight of our cast offs. There needs to be another way.

Learning to mend is a great place to start. It not only teaches valuable hands-on skills, but also helps us to begin to value and appreciate our belongings.

When we desire and appreciate the things we already own, we can turn away from mindless consumption and begin to feel truly content.

I’m Renee, a passionate teacher and clothing repair advocate.

I’d love to help you begin on your Visible Mending journey – this creative endeavour is hugely rewarding.

The techniques are beginner friendly and achievable even for those who have never sewn before.

I invite you to join me & grab one of the limited spaces in this online workshop.
